Car seat protects baby in freeway crash

A two-vehicle crash on the westbound 22 freeway just east of the 57 tangled traffic Thursday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash, involving a Toyota Corolla and a Honda Civic, was reported to the CHP at 6:26 a.m.

The driver a Toyota Corolla keeps her baby warm on the side of the freeway after her car collided with a Honda Civic on the westbound 22 freeway just east of the 57 freeway in Orange on Thursday morning. No one was injured. According to reports made to the CHP, the Honda was facing the wrong way in the No. 2 lane.

The driver of the Corolla had a baby in a car seat, CHP officer P. Gomez said. There were no injuries.

According to a CHP officer on the scene, the baby's car seat helped prevent any injuries.

According to Gomez, the driver of the Corolla said a car slowed down in front of her and to avoid a collision, she slammed on her brakes and lost control as she was entering the westbound 22 from Main Street.

The Corolla veered across all lanes and crashed with the Civic, Gomez said.
